It has been 3 days since I wrote something here . Don't know why I haven't been writing anything here , because it's not like I have been super busy . Or have written a lot of essays because this semester at Santa Monica is coming til it's end . So I decided to write everything that need to be done in my music course . So the only thing I have left there is the final exam . It feels so good to have been finishing all of the music essays, because now I can only focus on my other courses ( dance classes ) and also get so much better in updating here . Back to the dedication to the blog as I had before when I updated it at least 1-2 blog post /day . The first advent is here . Have I celebrate it ? not really . In Sweden I always did in one or another way . My sister was very into all the events around Christmas time . But now when I am living alone in Los Angeles I don't feel that its necessary . ( sorry sis that I am not a Christmas person like you lol ) I don't even know if I am going to celebrate Christmas this year . My roommate is going on a road trip with her father . So I will be all alone in our apartment in a whole week , or even more. I have been invited to some Swedish people I have met in school . So I guess I will be celebrating with them , But we are going to celebrate the 25 instead of December 24 as we normally do in in Sweden . Don't know exactly how the day is going to look like , but I think I will have an awesome time . In 22 day this semester at Santa Monica is ending and I have a break til my winter courses start . I only going to take a online course this winter . So no need to take that insanely boring and weird bus to Santa Monica . I am going to read a history course that is a part of my general education . Not the funniest but you got to do what you got to do . I have lived in Los angeles in 73 weeks now . Its pretty weird that the time have been rushing forward It feels like I moved here for only a couple of months ago . I looked it up on my instagram . I have done so much since I moved here . Watch a lot of pics from different places I have lived at here in Los Angeles . Also saw the pics of me when I was in extremely shape . Think I need to start directing my body to that shape . Because that was a shape I was really happy with . So tomorrow an new diet plan , workout plan , sleep schedule , dance schedule is going to start . In 2 months I will be where I was in those pics I almost can't believe it was my body . So now it's time for me to make myself sleepy so I am fallowing my sleep plan . |

I couldn't have an better Thanksgiving . Spending it with people who made me feel so at home . We ate a lot of good food and thanks Adam for making a extra dish just to please my picky eat habits, the salmon was amazing. After everyone was filled up with delicious food in our stomach we played games for a couple of hour . The first game was a game that your got a word you where going yo explain for the others , and they would guess what it was . I think I did all right even if I had no idea what some of the words meant . The last game was a super weird but also fun game .The game is kind of hard to explain. You all had 7 white cards in your hand with answers , you also had a pile of black cards with questions on it . So you start to throw out a blackcard with a question , then all the others need to choose one of their white cards with a answer to the questions on the blackcard . And the funniest answer win the blackcard . The last game was a super weird but also fun game . I never laughed so much in one night in a long time . And I actually manage to win the last game , even if I had no plan and just throw out card that I had no idea what they meant .
When it only was me , Julia , Adam and Gary left we looked at this year American Music Awards before we got a ride home of Adam . Sorry but this AMA was not a hit . what was up with Taylor swift performance . The only performance I liked was Sam smith and Mary J Bling . The other performance was just to much and they where mostly a mess on stage . When I woke up this morning I was so motivated . I want to become that good dancer/artist Adam believes I can be . He does so much for me and I want to give back so much to him and make him proud . So I will soon hit the gym and do some ballet barre and a core workout . And when I get home I am going to study , research some historic dancers , plan my future . I will make it ! Happiness needs sadness

Happy thanksgiving ! Today is the day you should show appreciation for what you have in your life . So I started the day with going to the gym . Did a cardio/ballet workout . It was a though workout , but when I thought I couldn't push myself more i thought about how much I am thankful for doing what I love and that I have every day to become better and better. And also that I every day wake up in a city that gives me opportunities that I didn't find in Sweden . Now I have just eaten breakfast and watching a video of my inspiration Misty Copeland . Today plan : to make this thankful day optimal , I am going to spend it with those people who have made me grow so much as a human and a dancer . I am going to celebrate my thanksgiving in North Hollywood at Adam's house , with Commonality dance company , his family and other people I have met in the dance world here in Los Angeles . Me and Julia is going to make Swedish cinnamon buns for desert ( just because Adam is crazy about them . And the american cinnamon buns is not the same as the one we have in sweden . ) We are going to have a whole evening with good food , games and laughs . Don't think I could have celebrate this day in a better way . A whole evening with people that I appreciate to have in my life . I just wanted to share one of my favorite teachers pieces. I am so sad that I can't take his classes every week because I am in school those days he teaches . But when I can I love to dance his combos and I also love how he inspires and motivates his student to grow as an artist . His classes is all about being a performer . You are not only learning how to take the choreography but also how to perform it like there was a audience in front of you . I can say that the few times have been able to take his class I have got a real “ kick in the ass “ . and I just want to work harder to be an even better dancer . I have had the luck to met a wonderful actor . I met her at my mentor Adam Parson's class . Her acting /performing skill caught my eyes . If i could have 1 thing from her it would be her performing skills and how she is express herself with her face . I want you guys to learn that dance is not only for dancer . It inspires tone, and mystery in story telling, and it helps me connect to my instincts. How have dance helped you in your job ? I have been starting to look up different dance schools I would like to transfer to . There are not a lot of schools who offer dance education and those you found cost a lot of money . For those who have been reading my blog for a couple of years, know that I got into AMDA . Its my dream school and the perfect education for me . I got in but couldn't say yes ( even if I got a scholarship ) because the school was very expensive . To say no to your dream school is not fun at all . Its like you throwing away a dream you almost got in your hand. I can say that , that time in my life wasn't the best . I still thinking about that I had to turned that opportunities down . I know I couldn't helped it, but still. I finally got to hear : you are a good dancer and you can be something with it . Now I am dreaming about going to one of those schools . AMDA is on the top of my list , It's sad that I need to realize that I will never be able to afford that education . If I got the chance to go too AMDA I would wake up every morning with a smile and go to school with happiness jumping in my body . Appreciate every single moment in my life because I would know that I am at the right place and school to become that dancer I want to be . I still want to thank AMDA for seeing something in me and my dance . Guess I need a plan B ... Just watch the movie : The turning point Its about how you need to give away some thing in life . In this movie it's all about giving up the dance dream to have a family or choose to have the dance life and give up the family life . Instead of spending time with the family a Friday night eating dinner and watching movies together , you choose to stand from morning to late night in the dance studio /performing and then go to a empty hotel room to get some sleep , so you will have energy to go up the next morning and do it all over again . Its a hard choice . You will miss out on good things and moments in your life in both the choices . Its also about how another person can be jealous for everything the other have .In this movie the women who chosen to have a family get jealous on the woman who chosen the life on stage and also on her own daughter because she living the life she didn't get . Jealousy and regret rise to the surface as Deedee copes with her buried dreams All of us who have chosen to pursue the dance life is going to take similar choices in our life . Its going to be hard and that is something we need to prepare for . Relationship will come "in the way " and you might not will be able to attend to event family activity . I choose to move to U.S.A and its so far away from my family . Of course I missed them but I have chosen this life and it will get lonely sometimes . But I know for sure that my family support me . I haven't met or heard my parents voice in 1,5 years now . And it will take a long time before I do . But like I said I have chosen this life myself just because their is nothing else besides dance that makes firework fire up inside of me . I will miss family dinners , I will miss having a "normal" relationship . Sometimes you find someone who it works with , but remember you need to spend a lot of time for dancing and you need to find someone who accept that and are prepared that you might not be able to met them everyday , if you not living together .
Every time I have a hard time or a a lonely day , I remember that my loved ones are happy for me and I am not really alone even if I am standing in a empty dance studio an early morning before I go to the dance studio where I can share the dance love with all the other dancers . And every time I come home to the apartment and feels the emptiness in the room . I remember how much I love dance . I have felt lonely a lot but I there is no idea to even dig that hole in the ground and feel sorry for yourself . I choose this life . Right now I am sitting at coffeebeans and the walk of fame is right next to me . A movie premier is going on , and its a lot of people running around just to get a glint from the premier. Even if I sit here all alone I never felt so home in a city like this . My muscles is so tired after the gym and ballet today . A nice tired and it feels like I did a great job of coming one step closer to my goal . Even If I am alone , I have never felt so good . Dont let people in your life drop garbage in your mind . Don allow people to do that . Just like … says , its not only nutrition that gives us energy and power to have a postivite and happy day . Its also the people around you . Do you want to end up just like the person you hang out with that thinks that everything is a negative in life . You become like the ones you hang out with . So be sure that you surrender yourself with people that gives you energy and positive mind thinking . If you all the time hearing negative thing you will become negative . So stop start your day with listen to hateful/ negative music , stop start your day with watching bad tv and start the morning with a newborn thought , a positive thought that will give you energy instead of putting you in a negative mindset . You wont come fare with that , I promise you that ! The greedy and miserable people Is like toxic . So you should be just as careful with the people you have around you like you are from food . Would you ever buy a apple that looked brown and had toxic all over it ? Stay away from the people who gossip , remind you of your mistake and when you truly need them they will be “out of town “ .Unfortunately sometimes these people can sometimes be your best friends , family or someone else really close to you. This people don't need to be evil they are just afraid . They are trapped in their own negative cycle . But don't let them take you into that cycle . Thats their problem that they just want to stay there and wont see the opportunities around them . They choose to live their life like that and its their responsibility to take themselves out and not bring more people into it . You as an outstanding person can't fix them . They need to work on their inside just as you need to work on yourself. But you can do one thing for them . You can show them a good example that you can do what you want to do in life , you can be happy . Just because you taking a little time from these people doesn't mean that you hate them . You just need to find your own way and not end up in a negative cycle like them . Show them possibility .Because if you don't stop surrender yourself with negative people who complains about their job , their family and their life . You are going to end up just like them . Surrender you with people who encourages your dreams and letting you become the human you want to see in the mirror . That kick your ass when you become negative , that bring your energy when you have a hard time . Instead of saying : maybe you should try something else ? It's not good of a future you setting up for yourself with that vision you have . “
So who do you have around you ? Is it people that want you to explore and grow as a person , who is feeding your with positivity . Or is it people who will cut your tree down just because you might have some hard times in life .
Be strong enough to let go and wise enough to wait for what you deserve . Selfish is something we all need to be sometimes for our own health . I don't think it is selfish to let go of a person in your life because its stopping you in your own life , or its just not the right moment for sharing your life with that person . Its about your health and I think the most people forget it . It's okay to be "selfish " if that person is bringing you down more than it raising you up . Or if that person just take you for granted . Me , you and everyone in this world should me more wise of what we have in our life . Be wise to have those people who get inspired by your passion even if you miss the most event they want you to come to . Even if you miss every party they invite you to . If they are worth having in your life they are going to stay , know why you didn't show up and understand your passion . Their is not going to be a lot of people who understand all of these things. They take it personally and think that you don't want to see them and then they call you selfish .
Person : Nathalie , you never show up and you are the one who never have time to see me/us . If I got a cent for every time I have heard this in my life I wouldn't be rich but I would at least afford to buy myself a luxury dinner . But that would be selfish . That's the different about being selfish and wanting to fight for your dreams , even if you miss some friends and family events . WE all have one or some of those people who just see you as selfish . Ask yourself ! Do you feel good about yourself by having them in your life ? Is it worth to have that stress and negativity in your life . Be wise to have the people who understands you even if you cant be their on the next dinner event , or for any event in the future for a long time . I am still not that strong . I have a few people who call me weird because I am so dedicated to what I want . But saying goodbye to those people is very hard . You need to be strong and tell them in the right way . You don't need to just stop calling them . Say it in a understandably way and if they still don't understand you and get mad . You have at least try to save you relationship with them . You can't do more than that ! So be strong , be wise for the places you have in your heart . Who should get those spot closets to your heart and who accept your passion and drive .
Advice for dancers .
I think this clip with Misty Copeland is very good ! Not only because its my idol who is giving the advice . But also the advice she gives is so good for us dancers to think about . Sometimes dancers don't understand how to go further with there dancing . It feels like you standing still and not going anywhere . I had that problem before I med Adam Parson . I didnt know how I could take my dancing to the next step . I just knew that I wanted to dance because I couldn't see anything else making me as happy as the dance did . Then I met Adam Parson who showed me that it is so much more than just taking classes . Its a lot of history , observing of other dancers , promoting yourself and etc. And I think Misty Copeland is mention a lot of good things to think of as dancer . Because its a hard business to pursue , but if you have your head in the game the possibility gets bigger . 1. Seek out advice : I still have an hard times with this . But I have become so much better for asking after help and advice . Before I was liken " I need to do it alone !" . But it is nothing wrong to ask after help . The goal you have doesn't become less valued because you got some help on the way . I am so glad that I let someone help me to develop as a dancer . I don't think I would have been that dancer I am today if I didn't have let anyone help me out , when I have some hard times in my life. You can learn so much form other people. You can get tip of what you should avoid and what you can change in you training to become better . 2. Be patient , live in the moment : For one year ago I was all over the place . Even before I was done with my first class , I had my head in the next class that was on my schedule . Did it give me anything good ? NO! Sometimes I came out from a class tired and could not say anything specific that I learned in that class , like : I need to work on holding my center in the pirouette so I don't trip forward all the time . Live in the moment . When you are at a dance class you head should be focused on just that moment. Not on what you going to do after or what you are going to eat . Live in the class and you will develop so much more . It is not about how many classes you can take in a day . Its how much energy and focus you can put in to every class you take . If you take 1 class , appreciate it and take everything from it that can make you a better dancer. Breath and be awake every second in the class . Live there and not in what is coming next . Don't rush everything . It takes time and that time you spend on it , is going to be so worth it when you reach one of your goals . 3. Remember why you dance : This is really important . Because there is going to be some hard periods in your life as a dancer . And if you not really love what you do , you will never take you through this "bad" times . Remember why you getting up at 6 am every morning , remember why you standing at the balletbarre at 8 am . Remember why you are so busy and maybe don't have time for anything else . Remember that you doing all of this for the one thing you love in life : DANCE . Because if you don't know why you standing in your ballet tight 8 am in the morning , you will never find more motivation and your passion for dance might die. 4. Be yourself : You are not the girl next to you in the class . Se might be awesome and you get a little bit of jealous of it . But instead of being jealous . Focus on you . What do you have that she maybe not have . How can you get your personally dance style to glow from everyone else dancers in the audition . Stop thinking : but I am not like her and I don't have that . That is just negative thought about yourself and you are thinking to much of what is not you , instead of thinking : this is me , and this is what I have to work with . Don't try to copy anyone else . You have your special sides and maybe the girl you want to be like thinks the same about you . How fun would it be if every dancers was the same and looked the same ? Not that fun , right ! So be yourself and work with that . 5. Be your own advocate : You need to learn how to promote yourself as a dancer . I have worked a lot on this . You need to know how to promote yourself as a dancer , that is how you get work . Dance works don't just come flying by . You need to networking , go to dance events , make people in the business know how you are . To be a dancers is not only to dance . You also need to know how to promote your brand . And your brand is YOU . Healthy dinner tip : salmon , root fruit blend , feta , kale , pickles , tomatoes Salad : spinach , melon , spicy pecans , pineapple salsa , pear . After a long day its finally time to sit down and do some homework before I lay my head on the pillow . Its an early morning that is waiting for me . Up at 5.15 to catch the bus to Santa Monica College .
Today have been an amazing dance day . Of course I was at my dear coach Adam Parson class . We did a combo to the son " run the world " of beyonce . Every time I have been dancing with Adam I feel like another person . I feel stron , happy and I feel like an awesome dancer . I got a question from one of you : why do you like Adam Parsons classes ? My answer : how can you not like them ? Adam Parson have such an energy around him that he shares with the whole room . And you can see how passionate he is about his work . And you never know what to expect on his classes . He is such a varying teacher . One lesson can be lyrical , on class can be fast as HELL , on class can be sexy etc. You get a very good mix by taking his classes . He teach dancer to have many different sides about their dancing . He teaches them how to catch every one attention even if it just is a shoulder movement , or if the dancer should just walk 2 steps . He teach how to be a great dancer that is ready for anything in the dance world . This is just a few things why I love his classes . HE IS TRULY AMAZING ! and the best human being I have ever met . He is very close to my heart . If you have missed that Jessie J just came out with a new album , I think you should take the time and check it out . Can this women fail with any song? I have loved every single one of her song since she got discovered . And she is also an amazing live performance artist . Here is a girl who can sing and don't need the add anything else just to sound good . She is one of my favorite artist just because she can sing when ever . Her voice is strong and also her songs . My favorite songs on her last album is :Sweet talker , Masterpiece and Get away . Witch one is yours ? |
