Keep track !
How much do you eat in a day ? have you been active today ? did I really eat that chocolate yesterday or why is it chocolate paper in the trash ? why am I so tired ? did I eat enough ? How can I keep track on my diet and activity level.
When I started to track my diet I did it in a very simple way . Instead of just writing it down I also took a picture of everything I ate in a day . I did this for a week and it showed me and teach me a lot . What I need to change , what I need to add and what I did good . Why I decided to take a picture and not just write it , is because I think its easier to understand exactly what you ate and the amount of it , if you see it in a picture . You can see how big your portion is which is often the biggest problem for people . They can eat really good food but in the wrong amount . They eat to much . And you will see it a lot better and understand from a picture than just the amount written in number and letters .
You also see how the food looked like . Was is colorful or was it a boring color scale that didn't give any beauty to the picture , The color of the food is really important . I always try to make my food colorful , because that means its a lot of vitamins and minerals . For example Dark green vegetables are included in the long list of nutrients found in these veggies are potassium, dietary fiber, folate, vitamin A, vitamin E, and vitamin C. Orange foods such as carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, squash, and cantaloupe, include a plant compound known as carotenoids. Carotenoids include beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. Also a carotenoid, lycopene is found in red foods such as tomatoes and tomato products, watermelon, and grapefruit. The main benefit of lycopene is the maintenance of prostate health. So let your food be colorful and that will give you a lot of vitamins and minerals that your body needs to be healthy .
And taken picture is so easy . You may not have paper and pen everywhere you go . So when you decide to write it down when you are coming home after a long day at work/school etc. You might have forgotten the amount or that you even ate it . So taking a picture will help you not to forget . We all carriage a phone with a camera . So before you start eating it take a picture so you can look up what exactly you ate that day and then write it down .
So my first health tip to get a healthier life is to track your food and activity . Does the food intake match your activity level . Are you in balance ?
